Meet Jeff
A short introduction, in their own words.
I chose this career because I grew up knowing I wanted to work with people and help them have better lives. At first, I thought that meant I wanted to be a doctor, but I soon realized I wasn’t interested in biology or organic chemistry. What I grew up loving was investing. My dad taught me how to invest at a young age, and I spent my childhood learning about personal finance. So when I stumbled upon the Personal Financial Planning program at UVU and realized I could make a career of something I already loved, I jumped in with both feet.
These days, I truly enjoy getting to know our clients personally and meeting people from all different backgrounds. It’s awesome to be in a position to provide financial comfort to people so they can enjoy their retirement. Our approach here is personal. We take into account a lot more than just the dollars and cents of client situations, but also their needs, wants and goals. In the end, we want their retirement to be about what matters most to them.
I also love that I get to come to the office to work with my friends every day. I don’t think there’s a better work culture anywhere in Utah than what we have at Peterson.
My favorite client story
One of my clients needed to put her spouse in a memory care center and was very broken up about it. We provided her with the reassurance that they can afford a nice place for her husband, and that she doesn’t have to worry about the financial aspect of caring for him. Being able to make a hard situation easier and provide that relief to her meant a lot to me.
I’ve been married for four years to an amazing wife, and we have a one-year-old daughter. I absolutely love baseball, even though I don’t get to spend as much time on that hobby as I used to. I am also a HUGE foodie, I love trying new restaurants and have been to a few Michelin Star spots (all peak life experiences!). Every summer, I try to get out and do some boating with friends, and my wife and I travel whenever we can. So far, I’ve been to 12 different countries and have had wonderful experiences in all of them that have shaped who I am today. I love policy, politics, economics, geopolitics, etc. I listen to everything and anything I can about those topics.
